With each season mountain weddings provide a beautifully unique backdrop to make your celebration even more distinctive and memorable.
Here are some suggestions for your destination weddings in the mountains.
Mussoorie is a great summer wedding site within India, given its scenic landscape. Wedding planner Gurleen Puri, who organised a wedding at this unexplored locale, shares, “Summer wedding destinations like Thailand and Mauritius are popular, but hosting a wedding in Mussoorie was a novel idea.” She recommends a garden wedding theme to complement the natural beauty of this place. “With the perfect weather conditions, Mussoorie helps you forget the humdrum of city life,” shares Vikram Mehta, wedding planner and CEO, Mpire Events.
Mehta recently organised the wedding of Mumbai-based entrepreneurs Manisha and Aahan Bector, who wanted a wedding in the mountains. The couple explains why they settled for Mussoorie, “We are big fans of Coldplay and wanted to have a sky full of stars as we tied the knot. We were sure we didn’t want a beach wedding with sand in my lehenga. Also, we didn’t want the hot weather making our guests uncomfortable in their fine clothing. So, we decided to have an intimate mountain wedding, with the beautiful green valley as our backdrop.”
Their summer wedding included plenty of natural décor elements like twigs, cherry blossoms and other flowers. Aahan recounts, “The breath-taking view of the Himalayas, the sheer expanse of the peaks and the unassuming façade of the hotel on the mountainside, reminded us that there is something greater than us all—our Creator.”
When to book: Ideally 8-10 months in advance.

wildlife. You can go fishing at Kempty Falls, which is located 13 kilometres from Mussoorie.

Budget: Around `1 crore for a three-day wedding,
which includes rooms, food and beverage, logistics and production.
