How to pack well for a destination wedding in winters
Here’s our guide to packing well – from make-up to trousseau and footwear – for cool temperatures
Make-up: Winter wedding make-up can be challenging with the skin exposed to constant changes in the indoor and outdoor temperatures. However, a winter wedding reduces the chances of greasiness or smudging and so, you can go all out with your make-up. Make sure you include beauty products with hydrating benefits that will last all day.
Outfit and jewellery: Winter weddings call for fabrics that provide both warmth and style. “Fabrics like velvet and heavy silk are suited for cold temperatures. Elaborate lace work will lend a rich look to these fabrics,” says fashion designer Sarika Tanna. Ornate and elegant brocade work can be used for both, lehengas and gowns. Mirror work and feather detailing are very much a part of the dress code at cocktail parties and sangeet functions. If it’s extremely cold, opt for long woven sequin capes. The advantage here is that since the textiles are heavy, you can give chunky jewellery a miss. For men, woollen vests and bandhgalas look classy and promise to keep one warm. Winter scarves serve as a chic accessory.
Footwear: Be it pumps, flats or slip-ons, well-designed footwear is absolutely essential at a winter wedding. A large number of people choose trendy, handmade mojris for comfort and panache.
