Kalki through the looking-glass

As we entered Amy Billimoria’s House of Design in Juhu, Mumbai, we knew we were not in Kansas anymore. The store exudes a happy feeling. From the décor of the store to the clothes housed within it, we could tell that this was going to be a departure from a traditional bridal makeover.

About Me
Sonam and Paras Modi share their marriage mantra…

We met at a common friend’s wedding in Lonavla, after which we started meeting almost twice a week with friends. We got along like a house on fire; it felt so comfortable talking to each other, it was like we were long lost friends. The initial courtship felt more like a game of hide and seek. We didn’t want to tell people yet as we were still getting to know each other.

Gifts to treat gourmands

If you looking for gifts for your foodie friends, read on to know what can make them feel special on their wedding day

There is a friend in every clique who has a fascination towards everything edible. It can be for a particular ingredient, certain flavourful goodies or appliances to whip up a tasty meal. If you have a food-loving friend or relative tying the knot soon, then here are the gifts they would love to own.

Flavourful delights

According to experts, gourmands should be given the choicest specialities, especially ingredients that are unusual and not easily available. These can include various kinds of cheese from around the world, especially Amsterdam, which offers assorted flavours that complement the Indian palate—pesto, paprika, olive, garlic and sweet berry.

Treasures of the world

Kamakshi Kothiwal, Founder, The Wedding Planning Company, says, “One can opt for various kinds of teas such as marigold, mango and apricot, which is available in the form of actual dried petals and fruits. Handmade chocolates, the Belgian Godiva sea-salt chocolate, the Indian Chokola spicy chocolates, and Norway’s famous Bruno cheese are excellent recommendations. For oenophiles, surprise them with imported wine from Portugal or jams/preservatives made of wine.”

One for the kitchen

Lastly, a good old beater is the versatile tool of choice in any kitchen and one that will be truly appreciated by the foodie. “If a person loves to cook, an electric hand-mixer/ beater is a must-have, as it’s suitable for mixing, whisking and blending of ingredients,” Kothiwal says.
