Wedding decor trends that are set to dominate in 2020
If 2019 saw the domination of floral installations and smoke bombs, then 2020 will be all about lush greenery and statement lighting
Be prepared to spot a lot of botanical details and unusual foliage instead of classic roses. Tharwani shares, “For larger weddings, we are seeing a decrease in the use of floral elements. However, elaborate floral setups are still popular for intimate sit-down dinners.” Yamini Shah and Rishi Rochlani of The Wedding Designers, expect to see muted, feminine tones in floral décor. Furthermore, as a nod to the ongoing sustainability movement, couples are choosing greens, artificial flowers and wild grass over fresh blooms.
Offering more details about emerging trends, Purvi Modgil of F5 Weddings shares, “Gota strings, tissue tassel, origami paper flowers and metallic structures are in. When done right, you can transform your venue into a wonderland with drapes; choose sheer textiles like chiffon, organza or voile which will add a luxe touch to the celebrations.” In statement lighting, the options include orb chandeliers, scattered spotlights, tungsten bulbs embedded with flowers, hanging votives and floor candles.
A vital aspect of décor is colour and here, Rai predicts, “In terms of palette, grey, mint and lavender as background colours give depth to dainty elements such as hanging lanterns and golden candlesticks, thus lending a finishing touch to a fairy-tale ambience.”
