About Me
Kalki through the looking-glass

As we entered Amy Billimoria’s House of Design in Juhu, Mumbai, we knew we were not in Kansas anymore. The store exudes a happy feeling. From the décor of the store to the clothes housed within it, we could tell that this was going to be a departure from a traditional bridal makeover.

About Me
Sonam and Paras Modi share their marriage mantra…

We met at a common friend’s wedding in Lonavla, after which we started meeting almost twice a week with friends. We got along like a house on fire; it felt so comfortable talking to each other, it was like we were long lost friends. The initial courtship felt more like a game of hide and seek. We didn’t want to tell people yet as we were still getting to know each other.

How to include water bodies in your home interiors

Be it curios or décor items from your travel, the world is making its way into your living room! We show you how to own this trend

The presence of water in the form of wall fountains and wall waterfalls can lend your home a soothing vibe. Water bodies have indeed become a popular décor option among new-age couples

For those who don’t want to splurge on artificial water bodies, a simple urli can do the trick. Available in materials like cement, concrete, ceramic, etc and in a range of designs, these can be accessorised with flowers, stones and pebbles once they are filled with water. “The use of urlis dates back to the Mughal Era when water bodies played an important role in beautifying spaces. Urlis work best to create a simple, yet soothing water body,” says horticulturist and landscape designer Satish Mathur.

Go glocal with your home decor

Be it curios or décor items from your travel, the world is making its way into your living room! We show you how to own this trend

The flavour of a destination is evident in the pieces of décor, which you can bring back home with you. Artefacts, which reflect the culture and lifestyle of the country they belong to, are popular travel picks. “When we travel to a new destination, everything is alien and thus, everything looks unique and interesting. Instead of being a compulsive buyer, opt for pieces that you are instantly attracted to and the ones that gel with the overall theme of your home,” says Nipoon Agrawal, Director, Anemos.

TIP: While buying a décor item, think about its utility value. Also, if it’s a bigger piece, then make sure it goes with the theme of your house

Wall about it

As a trend, wallpapers have been going strong for a while now. And it’s not hard to imagine why. A bold and edgy print, in particular, is the key to adding some visual interest. So, reimagine, rethink and redefine. Along with this, a piece of furniture featuring a quirky digital print will energise an otherwise laid-back setting,” elucidates Raseel Gujral Ansal, Founder and Creative Director, Casa Paradox.
