Take cue from Aashay Shah who surprised his partner Ashna with a hot air balloon proposal on New Year’s Eve
A classic tale of opposites falling in love, Ashna Makhijani and Aashay Shah met and fell in love at their workplace where she worked as a stylist, and he, in the marketing department. Shah says, “She loves balloons and always lights a lantern on New Year’s Eve. Unfortunately, she missed out on doing so this year. So, I decided to surprise her with a hot air balloon proposal.
Shah sought help from their mutual friends who convinced Makhijani to take a two-day trip not too far away from Mumbai for New Year’s Eve.
“We reached the hot air balloon spot at dawn; the winter weather set a romantic mood under perfect skies,” he reminisces. As a confused Makhijani tried to comprehend what was going on, she heard music nearby. Revealing more, Shah discloses, “She turned to her left and saw a sign that said, ‘Will you marry me?’ and when she turned towards me, I was down on one knee holding a ring. She said ‘yes’ and we hopped onto the hot air balloon, which rose to a height of 4,000 feet. In that moment, I knew that life would never be the same again.” For Makhijani, Shah was turning her dreams into reality. Recalling the moment, she shares, “It was dawn and all I could see was a hot air balloon and the love of my life
Tip of love
If you want to borrow a page from Shah and Makhijani’s dream proposal, you’d better convince your partner to take an overnight trip with you as hot air balloon flights start as early as 5 am! Make sure the skies are clear and the weather conditions are favourable before embarking on the flight of a lifetime.
