For your wedding, make some colourful memories by opting for Holi as the ceremony theme
Colourful, energetic and full of life—Holi is celebrated across the country and is now drawing people from around the world to experience it in India, the land of festivals. Suraj and Neha chose a fun and unconventional tone for their traditional haldi ceremony. As they wanted their overseas guests to experience the multifaceted Indian culture, they opted for a Holi celebration along with their mehendi function.
Wedding planner Kunal Rai, VP – Weddings & Events, Tamarind Global Weddings, shares, “The haldi ceremony was held at a beach and was based on a Holi theme titled ‘Rangon ki Holi’. The guests were asked to observe an all-white dress code for the occasion.” They were also given sunblock, sunglasses, face wipes and hair accessories, along with plates of colour to kick-start the party.
Meghaa Isrrani, founder, Israni Photography and Signature Films, documented the celebrations. She shares, “The choice of a white dress code was a big plus—guests were comfortable and the colours showed stunningly against the plain white ensembles. Sometimes, the simplest moments turn out to be the most striking in pictures.”
Similarly, Shweta Shridhar and Abhinav Sharma hosted a haldi function, which incorporated all the fun elements of a Holi party, complete with flower petals, colours, water balloons and colour bombs. Chirag Khattar, Director, Portfolio Studio, shares, “The haldi is one of the pre-wedding functions where the two families are probably meeting each other for the first time. So, it’s a fantastic idea to host an interactive celebration like this to break the ice.”
