About Me
Kalki through the looking-glass

As we entered Amy Billimoria’s House of Design in Juhu, Mumbai, we knew we were not in Kansas anymore. The store exudes a happy feeling. From the décor of the store to the clothes housed within it, we could tell that this was going to be a departure from a traditional bridal makeover.

About Me
Sonam and Paras Modi share their marriage mantra…

We met at a common friend’s wedding in Lonavla, after which we started meeting almost twice a week with friends. We got along like a house on fire; it felt so comfortable talking to each other, it was like we were long lost friends. The initial courtship felt more like a game of hide and seek. We didn’t want to tell people yet as we were still getting to know each other.

Get inspired by Sonakshi Sinha’s au naturel look

Find yourself lusting after Sonakshi Sinha’s golden glow? Here’s how you can keep true to the beauty vibe of her look

The hair and make-up brief for this photo shoot was all about staying true to Sinha’s natural features without overpowering them with excessive make-up. Also, the styling was so glamorous and statement-like that it called for minimalist make-up. “Keeping that in mind, I prepped the skin with moisturiser followed by foundation and concealer. Sonakshi has a very warm and even skin tone, which is amazing to work with. She requires very little use of foundation for coverage, which is why I smeared on just three to four drops of product,” shares her make-up artist Nileysh Parmar, adding, “A light base works perfectly especially when you’re a bride-to-be, as you will be dancing and clicking pictures under the harsh lights for photography. You definitely don’t want your makeup to look cakey. Also, when you sweat, it really dampens the whole look and so, it’s best to refrain from over-applying product; you can do touch-ups as and when required during the function,” advises Parmar.

Taking us through the finishing touches, Parmar recounts, “I first used a cream-based highlighter for sheen and followed that with a dry, powder-based highlighter. This technique really accentuates the glow on your cheekbones and allows it to pop. I used a cream-based blush to lend the apples of her cheeks a rosy softness. For the eyes, I smudged colour from a gold pencil on her eyelid, no eyeshadow was used. Faux lashes and mascara to coat them finished off the eye make-up. This look works best for your sangeet or cocktail functions as it is light, easy, fresh and very real. This is what the bride of today wants: to look like herself.”

Sinha had walked onto the sets of the shoot sporting stunning caramel-coloured highlights. The juxtaposition between the lightness of her highlights and her natural dark hair created a beautiful play of depth and gave an impression of fullness thereby adding definition to her mane. Hairstylist Sheetal Naik allowed the highlights to remain the hero of the hairstyle by giving Sinha ribbon curls. Naik says, “Highlights like these work beautifully for girls with light or medium skin tone. Not just that, it will pop just as strikingly in your wedding photographs.
