About Me
Sonam and Paras Modi share their marriage mantra…

We met at a common friend’s wedding in Lonavla, after which we started meeting almost twice a week with friends. We got along like a house on fire; it felt so comfortable talking to each other, it was like we were long lost friends. The initial courtship felt more like a game of hide and seek. We didn’t want to tell people yet as we were still getting to know each other.

Fashion trends set to rule 2019

Darker hues or soft pastels; solid colours or floral prints –here’s our breakdown of stand-out bridal wear trends for 2019

When it comes to bridal wear, millennials are choosing to tone it down and keep it simple.  They are willing to take risks with their bold sense of style and unconventional choices. With the trends appearing to be a mix of traditional and contemporary designs, the mood is upbeat and this is reflected in the palette that’s set to dominate in 2019.

Colour play

Dolly Jhunjhunwala, Founder and Design Head, Dolly J, shares, “Hues such as wine, maroon, mauve, scarlet and fuchsia will be popular this year. Pastels will continue to dominate, as it complements Indian skin tones.”

Celeb inspirations

As observed at the weddings of Ranveer-Deepika and Priyanka-Nick, it’s evident that bridal outfits will be a combination of traditional and contemporary designs. Deepika’s mehendi outfit was a blush pink embellished kurta set with traditional floral motifs, worn with a matching tucked-in dupatta containing an intricate floral design on the border. On the other hand, Priyanka wore a silver embellished lehenga that featured animal and floral motifs at her reception. Bespoke ensembles as such bearing traditional elements will find a place in 2019.

Trail trends

With innovative ways of wearing and styling them, trails are set become a hot favourite this year. Taking a cue from Priyanka Chopra’s 75 feet long veil or Deepika Padukone’s Mumbai reception look, which saw the diva cut a striking picture in an ivory and gold chikankari veil, brides are set to add this piece of extra fabric to their ensemble for a subtle and royal look.
