About Me
Kalki through the looking-glass

As we entered Amy Billimoria’s House of Design in Juhu, Mumbai, we knew we were not in Kansas anymore. The store exudes a happy feeling. From the décor of the store to the clothes housed within it, we could tell that this was going to be a departure from a traditional bridal makeover.

About Me
Sonam and Paras Modi share their marriage mantra…

We met at a common friend’s wedding in Lonavla, after which we started meeting almost twice a week with friends. We got along like a house on fire; it felt so comfortable talking to each other, it was like we were long lost friends. The initial courtship felt more like a game of hide and seek. We didn’t want to tell people yet as we were still getting to know each other.

Ending your search for the perfect wedding outfit

One of the biggest aspects of wedding prep is shopping for the trousseau—garments, jewellery and even items for your registry!

Is there such a thing as a ‘perfect wedding outfit’? We say yes. To fulfil every Indian bride’s dream of her wedding day look, here are a list of the best fashion destinations in India and Dubai – curated by some of the greatest designers to help you find the lehenga you love.

India

From designer wear to bespoke services, Delhi is known for its eclectic offering in wedding essentials. Modgil shares, “For a bridal lehenga, head to Chandni Chowk or Karol Bagh, while designer wear can be found in the boutiques that dot the lanes of Shahpur Jat, Hauz Khas, South Extension and Greater Kailash.” Then there is the Pink City, which is known for not only lehengas, but also customised saris and jewellery. In Jaipur, Johari Bazaar and MI Road are renowned for gold, silver and antique jewellery. Like Delhi, Mumbai too is home to some of the country’s best bridal designers. In the east, specifically Kolkata, Burrabazar and Gariahat are known for gold jewellery and skilled craftsmanship in bridal attire. For its selection of gold jewellery and authentic traditional bridal silk saris like Kanjeevaram, a visit to South India is a must.

Dubai

Every shopaholic will swear by the emirate that offers incredible discounts on luxury and branded items. Ankita Asthana and Akash Agarwal of WeddingNama, say, “Known for its ultramodern, extravagant lifestyle, this city has malls, traditional souks and local street outlets. Dubai is home to handicrafts, décor items, electronics, designer luxuries, jewellery and bespoke bridal wear; this makes it a perfect one-stop shop for your wedding preparation.”
