Cues to take from starry weddings to celebrate your own big moment
From Italy and across the United States to India, 2018 was flooded with some of Bollywood’s most celebrated weddings. If you’ve dreamed of getting married with some dhum-dhamaka, take a trip down memory lane with us to spot some lavish trends in the hottest weddings of last year.
Soon to-be brides, take note: the red lehenga is back in fashion to seriously impress. Timeless and traditional, you can tweak the embroidery to best exude your personality. While girl Priyanka Chopra’s lehenga was detailed with intricately-woven thread, Deepika Padukone flaunted golden hand-work embroidery in hers—both of which were designed by the renowned Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Sonam Kapoor donned a dreamy design by Anuradha Vakil which exhibited beautifully-etched lotus motifs.
Jewel me up
Deepika, Priyanka and Sonam extravagantly showcased their bliss by fancying themselves in strings of precious stones. Layered necklaces and heavy bangles oozed richness. Ladies, there’s no need to be subtle on your special day—while Deepika and Sonam showed off maatha pattis, all three wore exquisite maangtikkas. Statement chokers too, are à la mode. The trio also lent their outfit a little groove with attractive, gold kaleeras.
Knot me pretty
Don’t let your hair frizz up! Instead, opt for an up-do that is sure to let the rest of your outfit do the talking. Take inspiration from the dazzling Bollywood brides who totally mesmerised us with their chic buns.
Call of the personal
Customizing your dress is a great way to make your wedding as intimate as possible. Priyanka’s Ralph Lauren dress held Nick’s name as well as her wedding date. Her Sabyasachi red dress too, secretly spelt the names of her parents and her spouse. Nick’s love for Priyanka shone visibly as his wedding tux read my jaan in Urdu. Deepika too, draped a dupatta that read ‘Sadaa Saubhagyawati Bhava’.
Ranveer Singh, the Bollywood heartthrob, and the charming Anand Ahuja added some suave to their outfit by using neck jewellery pieces. Soon to-be grooms, this is the trend you should be on the lookout for.
