A complete guide to packing for a summer wedding
To help you circumvent any packing oversights, here’s our guide to appropriate attire for warm temperatures
Make-up: Whether you’re the bride or a guest attending a summer wedding, remember to keep your make-up light, just like your outfits. Oil-based foundations will lend your skin a greasy look. Instead, carry light, gel based products that will keep you looking fresh through the day. Experts recommend waterproof make-up, which will prevent smudging in warm weather. A suntan lotion with a high SPF is a must while packing for warm weather.
Outfit and jewellery: Stylist Shweta Khanna suggests beating the heat in lightweight yet elegant chiffon saris. “Chiffon fabrics are fuss-free and beautiful during warm temperatures. Choose soft pastel shades for day functions and a striking pink, orange and black palette for when the sun sets,” states Khanna. A classic cotton sari, too, works for a casual function during the day. Pack a good mix of semi-formal and casual wear. Crop tops and long skirts, floral gowns and flowing monotone maxi gowns are all suitable options. Long capes teamed with crop tops and palazzos are recommended. You could consider finishing off your look with chunky jewellery to accessorise your ensemble. Statement jewellery such as chunky necklaces, elaborate earrings or intricate head ornaments could add to your glam quotient. Avoid heavy garments that are likely to make you perspire at the outdoor events!
Footwear: Warm temperatures equal open-toed shoes, so peep-toe heels and metallic sandals are ideal footwear options. If it’s a beach wedding, don’t forget to pack a pair of flip-flops.
