5 tips to find the perfect wedding day fragrance
Find a scent that represents you and the occasion, which includes the theme, season and ambience
It may not be a part of popular folklore, but as far as testimonials go, fragrances are known to transport us back to certain moments in time. So choose a fragrance that only embodies the occasion, but also becomes a wonderful reminder of your wedding day. To savour the moment, it’s time to pick a scent to mark the occasion. We have a few tips to ensure you sport a memorable scent on your big day.
Prepare in advance
What kind of mood are you trying to depict at your wedding? Whether it is fun and casual, or elegant and sophisticated, choose a scent weeks prior to your wedding day to make sure you and your partner don’t experience an adverse reaction to it. Instead of trying out multiple perfumes in one day, which can get overwhelming, it’s advisable that you take it a day at a time to find a fragrance to complement your bridal moment.
Smelling a scent straight from the bottle may mislead your olfactory senses and won’t offer a complete picture of how it smells on you. To try on a scent, spray it on your skin and let it rest for a few hours to know how it smells over time, how long it lasts and so on. Don’t mix multiple scents as this will result in a confusing scent bouquet.
Weather or not
Another vital factor is the season and therefore, temperature at the venue. If it’s a summer wedding, lighter scents are recommended as the heat intensifies the fragrance. For cooler days, a stronger scent will serve you better.
Layer it up
To enhance your wedding day scent, make sure all your products complement the perfume. Align your body wash and moisturiser with your fragrance to make it last longer. While applying the perfume on your body, target the areas that radiate heat such as wrists, behind the ears, inside of the elbows and behind the knees.
Know your scents
Perfumes generally have a higher concentration of oil, which tends to make them last longer. The other categories—eau de parfum, eau de toilette and eau de cologne—reflect varying concentrations of oil in alcohol and water. Depending on the occasion and other elements, pick a suitable fragrance.
Let your wedding fragrance be a scent that you can wear time and again; and every time you do so, it will remind you of this day.
