Listening to Akriti Kakar talk about her significant other feels like they’ve been together forever.

About Me
Kalki through the looking-glass

As we entered Amy Billimoria’s House of Design in Juhu, Mumbai, we knew we were not in Kansas anymore. The store exudes a happy feeling. From the décor of the store to the clothes housed within it, we could tell that this was going to be a departure from a traditional bridal makeover.

About Me
Sonam and Paras Modi share their marriage mantra…

We met at a common friend’s wedding in Lonavla, after which we started meeting almost twice a week with friends. We got along like a house on fire; it felt so comfortable talking to each other, it was like we were long lost friends. The initial courtship felt more like a game of hide and seek. We didn’t want to tell people yet as we were still getting to know each other.

5 things to know before deciding your wedding theme

A classic white wedding or an extravagant fantasy-themed one, it can be a tricky decision to make and we are here to help you decide

Among the myriad things you have to decide for your wedding starting from the wedding venue to the grand ensemble, the theme pulls everything together. From the floral arrangements to the colours of the wedding, your theme decision is what drives all the other elements. A wedding goes deeper than the surface and accentuates the personality of your relationship. It may seem like a daunting task to bring your ideas together and not only in holy matrimony. Thus, we have five essential things to keep in mind before fixing on a wedding theme.

The wedding venue

Where you get married is the most essential aspect of choosing your wedding theme. If you want to opt for a garden wedding but place your money on a roof-top restaurant, you will be far from the idea of your wedding dream. You should know what your wedding venue offers and how much your budget allows. Your theme should align with your spending ability to avoid having to settle for something underwhelming.

Colour, colour, which colour…?

You might already have a few colours in which you have envisioned your wedding day. Although they may seem like the perfect shades to envelope your wedding in, your partner may have a different idea. Make sure you and your partner are on the same colour palette for your wedding day. If not, find a middle ground that appeases both of you.

Be specific

Decide exactly what you want. When you were planning your wedding, there might have been certain elements that you just had to have on your big day. Keep them in mind and make sure you know what you want and more importantly, what you definitely do NOT want for the biggest day of your life.

Tis’ the season

Is your theme adaptive to every season? If you decide to have an outdoors wedding, your flower arrangements might start wilting quickly if they are placed under a harsh sun, while your guests might become ice sculptures themselves if it is during the coldest winters. Align your wedding theme with the season to make sure you have a picture-perfect wedding of your dreams.

Get inspired

Spend some time online on Pinterest, Instagram and everything else that floats your boat. Pull together a scrapbook of your favourite wedding clippings over time to make sure that you can choose the right wedding theme that you have always wanted.
