4 tips to find the perfect wedding fragrance
Find the bridal fragrance that encapsulates you and transports you to the happiest day of your life every time you smell it
It may not be a part of popular folklore, but as far as testimonials go, certain fragrances are known to transport you to a certain moment in time. To savour the moment, make sure you have the perfect scent to mark the occasion. We have a few indispensable tips to make sure you don an unforgettable whiff on your D-day.
Prepare in advance
What is the mood you are going for at your wedding? Whether it is fun and casual, or royal and sophisticated, start sniffing two weeks prior to your wedding day to make sure you or your partner don’t have a fit of coughs or underlying allergies following the fragrance testing. You may also get overwhelmed smelling multiple perfumes in a day; hence, it is advised that you take it one day at a time to ensure you find the right fragrance to match your bridal moment.
Smelling straight from the bottle may deceive your olfactory senses and does not give a full idea of what the perfume will smell like on you. Use your skin as a palette to spray the various scents over. Make sure you carry along a spare hand (of your fiancé or your bridesmaids) since you might run out of space on yours. Also, using too many scents on your hand might result in the smells getting mixed up.
Weather or not
On what basis should you pick your bridal fragrance? The weather at the wedding venue is an important factor. If you are having a summer wedding, lighter scents are preferable since the heat intensifies your fragrance. Hence, if you go for stronger perfumes, it may overpower the mood of your wedding making your nose twitch throughout. For colder days, applying a stronger scent is recommended.
Layer it up
To enhance your wedding day odour, make sure all your products complement the perfume. Align your body wash, moisturiser and scent with the same smell to make it last longer and to avoid the mixing of scents. While applying the perfume on your body, target the maximum heat producing areas such as your wrists, behind the ears, in the bend of your elbows and your ankles.
Know your scents: Perfumes generally have a higher concentration of oil which makes them last longer throughout the day. Other fragrances such as ‘Eau de Parfum’, ‘Eau de Toilette’ and ‘Eau de Cologne’ have varying concentrations of water and may wear off sooner than a perfume. Make sure to pick the right product.
Let your wedding fragrance be yours truly for the rest of your married life.
